Who we support

Adults we support in West Essex.

Lintern Care’s supported living and community support is for adults aged 18 and over in Uttlesford, Epping Forest and Harlow. We are specific about scope so people, families and professionals can see quickly whether we are likely to be the right service.

Who this service is for

We support people who need help to live in their own home and take part in community life. That is supported living and outreach, not a residential care home.

  • Autistic adults

Supported living and community support for autistic adults who need a consistent team, a clear communication approach, and support that respects sensory needs and routines.

  • Adults with a learning disability

Supported living for adults with a learning disability, including people whose behaviour may challenge, and people with associated communication or sensory needs.

  • Adults living with enduring mental ill health

Supported living and community support where the person needs help to keep a tenancy, look after their health and take part in community life. We are not a Mental Health Act detention service.

Associated physical, mobility or sensory needs can be part of the same plan where they sit inside the bands above. They are not a separate service on their own. For supported living when mental ill health is the main reason someone needs help at home, read supported living for adults living with mental ill health.

Where we are not the right service

If someone’s needs fall outside our competence, geography or staffing, we say so. That is better than taking on support we cannot do well.

  • Children and young people under 18, including 16–18 services
  • An older-people service, or where dementia is the primary need
  • Where substance misuse is the primary need
  • Support for people detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Accommodation or a care home

If you are unsure, you are still welcome to get in touch. We would rather have an honest conversation than leave you guessing.
